All Is Hidden
Second feature by critically acclaimed and award-winning Director Ricky Rijneke.
Yuri, a fourteen-year-old girl, and her father Lorenzo face a range of conflicting emotions when an impulsive act explodes into tragedy. Their close bond comes under severe strain.
Synopsis
All is hidden. Under the surface, under the skin. At a remote area, in the shadow of a dormant volcano, the girl Yuri is growing up with her father and uncle. Her overworked father Lorenzo is set guarding the border of this no man’s land. His job exposes him to the darker side of society. He finds those who desperately want help, but he is powerless. That winter, when Yuri turns fourteen, her father decides that she is old enough to carry the rifle that is passed down for generations in the family. When the snow blurs all the contours in the landscape, the family drives deep into the mountains for a hunting trip but Yuri’s ‘rite de passage’, takes a disastrous and fatal turn. At home the rigid border guard Lorenzo enforces extreme measures to keep his daughter safe, but the very “walls” he builds, eventually becomes the barrier that separates them.
